The Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence
was incorporated in 1979 to assist and support Rhode Island's
shelters for battered women in statewide planning and development.
The Coalition and our six member agencies have been providing
services to victims of domestic violence for the last fifteen
years, consistently expanding services in an attempt to
provide the comprehensive support battered women in need.

Sisters
Overcoming Abusive Relationships
SOAR
is a grass roots organization made up solely of survivors
of domestic violence and are a taskforce of the Rhode Island
Coalition Against Domestic Violence. SOAR advocates on behalf
of victims of domestic violence and work on issues such
as child custody through legislation and community organizing.

of Human Services:
The Department of Human Services'
primary mission is to provide financial and health services
to needy individuals and families in Rhode Island. In the
provision of these services, the Department's objective
is to assist individuals and families to the maximum extent
possible to achieve self-sufficiency, self-care and a strengthening
